Protected: The Green Season | Episode 04:Lastlight
Lastlight is the episode where the season leaves home. With medicine prices tripling and somebody south sweeping the clinic lots before they reach the open sheds, Princeton sends its wagons down the old highway line, through the fallow belt and the drowned towns, to the seam where two worlds trade. Kit sees the Edge for the first time; Wren sees it for the second, and watches her old armor come back on a mile at a time. At Drydock the medicine column costs a fifth of the tradable year, a salvage captain is outfitting for a run past where the stories stop, and one line about a family that went south when the towers got their lights slips by almost unnoticed. Then Lastlight at dark, the last lit street in the world, and past the drop-off, standing on the horizon like a second wrong dawn, the glow. Kit says exactly the wrong hopeful thing in front of it. The ride home is the quietest twenty miles of the season, and it is quiet for two reasons.
