Three musicians, a camera, and the real people who become a fictional world.
How it started
DangerGirlx began with a camera and three musicians. Asami, River, and Lacy make music together under that name, and the project grew up around their songs. What started as erotic photography began to ask for a story. The story became a photo novella. The novella kept outgrowing the plan until it was a whole city. It was never meant to become a world. The music and the pictures led, and the world followed.
The music leads
The order is what matters. Most projects build a world first and then score it. This one works the other way around. The music comes first.
A song says something true, some feeling that will not let go, and the project chases that truth into a scene. A street it could have happened on, a room, a woman who could have sung it. The scene hands the band the next song, and round it goes. The world is not a backdrop decorated with music. It is what the music leaves behind.
Real people become characters
Most of the people you meet across these pages started out real. They are models and artists, most of them around the Bay Area. A shoot, some real time spent together, and a character walks into the city with a name and a history that belong to the story and not to the person. It is always done with consent, and the project holds a firm line. The person keeps their own life. The city gets a new resident.
Why it is called collaborative worldbuilding
This is not one author inventing a place in a vacuum. The world is built out of other people, each one bringing a face, a voice, or a song to write around. Every new collaborator is a new thread, which is exactly why collaborative worldbuilding is the honest name for it. The more people who come in, the larger and stranger the city gets. There is a single hand on the pen, but the world is bigger than any one person by design.
The shape of the world
Danger City is the California coast, roughly fifty years on. That is as far as this page goes, because the world has its own pages, its zones and its histories, linked below. What matters here is that the place is built to feel true. It comes from somewhere real, so it lands like somewhere real.
From photographs to film
The project has changed shape more than once, and it is changing again. It went from erotic photography, to a photo novella, to a full music catalog, and now to a film series built around the three of them and their band. Each version reached further than the last. The film is the biggest reach yet, and it is where everything now points.
Built in the open
There is no funding behind this and no gatekeeper in front of it. It is a passion project, made out loud, where anyone can watch it come together. This page is the pillar, where the whole thing gets thought through in public. Anyone building a world of their own is welcome to take the blueprint and run with it.
Get involved
The world grows by the people in it, so the door stays open. Models, photographers, and creators in the Bay Area who feel something here have a way in.
